Unless you’re planning to raise a litter of cats or dogs and have the means to care for them throughout their lives, it’s best to have pets spayed or neutered. Otherwise, the instinct to procreate can turn even the most affectionate and loyal indoor pet into an escape artist. Visiting a Fresno Spay and Neuter Clinic can help your pet avoid this and other risks this act of kindness can reduce.

Why Spay/Neuter Your Pet?
Spay or neuter is a good way to protect your pet from themselves! There, we said it.
Unfortunately, many unplanned litters end up in shelters and foster homes—or worse, outdoors—because pet owners simply can’t take care of them. Spaying or neutering prevents this problem from occurring.
Aside from the obvious, this act of compassion toward your beloved pet can actually help with temperament problems like aggressiveness or territorialism. These can not only put your pet at risk from other dogs and cats but make living with them less than enjoyable.
Most pets will calm down and stop spraying and marking your home. They’re less likely to hiss and bark at other pets in the house. And because they’re no longer looking for a reproductive partner, they’re less likely to stray from home or fight rivals.
Finally, this kindness has been proven to reduce the risk of certain cancers and reproductive diseases. It’s a proactive way to protect your pet against the unexpected.
What Is Spaying? What Is Neutering?
Both procedures involve the safe removal of a cat or dog’s reproductive organs under general anesthesia. Spaying removes organs found in a female, while neutering removes those found on a male.
When Should a Pet Get Spayed or Neutered?
Dogs and cats should be 4 months or older, after finishing their vaccine series. They also should not have any serious medical conditions. At our spay and neuter clinic, we’ll provide a thorough examination before scheduling the procedure. Both procedures are same-day surgery, in most cases.
For female dogs, 2-3 months after giving birth, cats 2 months after giving birth.
Pets who are currently in heat or pregnant can be spayed.
Given the life- and health-saving nature of these procedures, our Fresno, CA, veterinarians may perform many in a week. But we think of every pet patient as a member of our family and provide the compassionate, personalized care they need to successfully undergo their procedure and return to your home and family to run, cuddle, and play.
We’re Family-Owned, Community-Focused.
